What Does an Income Protection Policy Cover?
Income Protection is an insurance policy that’s designed to help you cover costs when you’re unable to work due to illness or injury. Under this policy, you’ll receive a tax-free, monthly pay out to help you cover costs until you can return to work, retire or your policy ends; whichever occurs first. As an employed person you’ll receive a monthly pay out once your company’s Sick Pay period ends but as self-employed person you can receive a monthly payment if you are unable to do your job due to illness or injury. Your coverage and premiums will either be fixed or adjusted in line with inflation and the Retail Prices Index (RPI).
